The Person Reimagining

I’m Madison Danford (she/her), a dedicated advocate for equity in sport, with a passion for creating inclusive, accessible, and meaningful sport and physical activity experiences for all. With a background in program management, policy development, and research, I specialize in helping organizations embed equity-driven strategies into their sports structures—transforming how communities, schools, and teams engage with sport.

My journey began in Madoc, a small town in rural Ontario, where access to sport and physical activity was often limited. I saw firsthand that if affordable, meaningful opportunities weren’t available, kids in my community simply didn’t get to play. That realization led me to take action early on—I organized and ran a non-profit youth soccer league, started a youth basketball program, played and officiated house league hockey, and danced at our local studio. These experiences shaped my belief that who you are should never be a barrier to sport.

This passion for ensuring equitable access has since evolved into my life’s work. Academically, I hold a Bachelor of Physical Education, a Bachelor of Education, and a Master of Science, where my research focused on the gendered experiences of women ice hockey officials in Canada. I am currently pursuing a PhD exploring the role of arenas in rural Canada through an intersectional lens. My expertise spans consulting, education, and program development, equipping organizations with tangible, research-backed inclusion strategies that create lasting impact.

Through Reimagine Sport Equity Consulting, we help sport leaders, coaches, and administrators build environments where everyone—regardless of gender, ability, or background—feels like they truly belong. Because sport holds the power to be someone’s first experience of community, growth, and empowerment—and we must ensure that no one’s journey ends because they didn’t feel seen, heard, or valued.

Let’s work together to make sport bigger, better, and braver for all.
